Psychotherapy
A Mindfulness based approach
''Mindfulness can be thought of as moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness, cultivated by paying attention in a specific way, that is, in the present moment and as non-reactively, as non-judgmentally, and as openheartedly as possible.''
— Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD
Many people come for therapy when they are experiencing difficulties in their lives, loss, bereavement, historical trauma or recovery from a recent trauma, illness, life crisis, a transition, work or relationship problems, a sense of unhappiness or dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety or simply a desire to know themselves more deeply.
The intention of this mindfulness based approach is to create a deeper connection with the openness, compassion and wisdom at the heart of our human condition.
This experiential work encompasses our feelings, emotions, sensations, mental processes and their expression in the body.
We work from the understanding that we all have inherent health and given the right conditions – orientate naturally towards well-being and wholeness.
What can I expect?
The first meeting is free and lasts for half an hour. It gives you the chance to meet, describe what you would like to get out of coming to therapy at this time, and to ask any questions you have.
After this initial meeting you may like to take some time to think it over. If you feel you would like to start, there would be an initial short term contract to ‘test the water’. A review point is agreed, – usually after 6 weeks. Sessions are usually weekly & last one hour.
I work in a cabin in my garden and also on a Monday at a local woodland which has access to a covered area for shelter and where we can have a fire to keep warm.
I also work online when needed but am not currently taking on clients who only want online work.
My fees are on a sliding scale from £55 - £75 per session
